Borax is a naturally occuring mineral also know as sodium borate. It is often used as a laundry booster, stain remover and odour neutralizer. It increases alkalinity, softens water and helps to break down stains, allowing it to increase the function of detergents and soaps. Borax dissolves best in hot water. Please use rubber gloves when working with borax. As a laundry booster: add 1/2 cup of borax to a large load of laundry to enhance detergents, remove stains and soften water. As a bathroom and grout cleaner: make a thick paste using borax and water, apply to mold, mildew and soap scum. Allow to sit for 15 to 20 minutes then scrub and rinse.
